Biography and recent work

Gordon Harper is an actor from Waterdown, Canada and is the proud son of a teacher and potter. He spent his childhood at artisan sales around Southwestern Ontario with his parents.

Gordon first explored the arts in various visual art applications, eventually becoming an apprentice of a wood-block engraver. Come grade school, Gordon’s artistic interests expanded to theatre, growing exponentially from year-to-year. By grade twelve graduation, Gordon was honoured and excited to give the Valedictorian speech.

At the University of Guelph, Gordon studied theatre and biology. During this time, Gordon grew through roles in extra-curricular activities including: residence life and student unions.

After studies, Gordon moved to Toronto, Canada, where he currently resides.

Gordon tirelessly trains to further develop his acting skills on-camera as well as on-stage.

Gordon wrote, produced, and acted in his short film, Apprenticeship, which was completed in May 2019 and is currently on the festival circuit. Gordon’s production company is: Rusty Rooster Productions.

Recent and Up-coming:

  • Barry is just trying to do his job as a Chili’s server, taking orders and delivering food. Little does he know that there is a two-gun standoff under the table of his most recent customers. Catch Gordon as Barry in The Madness (filmed March 2024)

  • Gordon has been on tour across Canada throughout October and November, 2023, with Theatre of the Beat and their forum theatre production: I Love You and It Hurts. The production targets healthy masculinity, elder abuse, and intimate partner violence - all using audience interaction and improvisation to practice intervention in a safe setting.

  • Working as the Secretary of State’s assistant, Avery cannot believe the stuff (or people) he has to put up with. Catch Gordon in the upcoming Amazon show Cross (filmed April 2023)

  • Gordon takes on the role of American G.I. in season 2 of Apple TV’s Pachinko (filmed April 2023)

  • Gordon took on the complicated Southern Californian Air-traffic Controller’s role in Mayday, Season 22 - where he attempted to aid Captain Zobayan in navigating the murky morning that helicopter N72EX flew through (filmed October 2021)

  • Violently attacked, Gordon plays the unwitting Syd in Umbrella Academy when he is approached by his time-traveling grandson for errors he has yet to make (filmed August 2021)

  • Alice, Darling (feature) has Gordon playing a fawning sycophant, whose eyes are set on some astounding new pieces of art made by Alice’s famous partner, Simon (filmed July 2021)

  • Gordon plays a confused 1980s Cafeteria Worker being questioned about the strange rumors of Dorthy Montgomery and her family’s history in Ghostwriter Season 2, Episode 10, Apple TV+ (filmed May 2021)

  • Station 11 is a fabulous novel by Emily St. John Mandel, and Gordon had the privilege of joining the creative team who transformed the book to film in the HBO Max mini-series of the same name. Gordon plays Garrett, previously a Silicon Valley CEO, now one of the refugees stranded at The Severn City airport at the end of the world (filmed March-April 2021)

  • You may have seen Gordon in H&R Block’s Nature Boy series of commercials where, “[o]ne time a weasel crawled inside my sleeping bag. We lay and spooned for hours" (Feb-April 2021)

  • Ever joined a cult? Phillip has - after his wife left him, why not? But then you find yourself serving dinner to an abusive cult leader and taking cult-brainwashing courses for the fourth time… Maybe Phillip made the wrong choice. Check him out in the upcoming season of The Boys (filmed Oct. 2019)

  • Gregory Hunter, played by Gordon, is on a camping trip with his college classmate researching paranormal activity for their next paper when they run into a bit of trouble. Is it a creature from hell or something sinister from our own world? Find out in Murdoch Mysteries‘ Murdoch and the Cursed Caves (released Oct. 2019)

  • Gordon’s Apprenticeship short film features: A tenacious apprentice potter (Gordon) who aims to impress his callous pottery teacher in order to progress to the next lesson. This film is Gordon’s first time taking on the roles of producer and screenwriter on top of actor. Produced under Gordon’s production company: Rusty Rooster Productions (filmed Feb. 2019)
